What’s in a Name?
"Homeward Trail" is the name of a poem that has been in our family Bible for more than a century. In part it reads:

There are trails that lead to the mountains
And trails that lead to the sea.
But the trail that my heart would follow
Leads Homeward unto Thee…
                                          Ella Francis Gilbert

In the early 1900’s Grandma Heddins nailed this sign on her fencepost—
Trails End. It has remained the name of the Heddins’ home.

When the doves leave your wedding, they hit the "Homeward Trail" at approximately 40 mph and when they get here they have reached the "Trail’s End" and fly into their "Loft"—and that’s what’s in a name!

May your heart always lead you home to the ones you love.

Did You Know?
GI Joe was a famous WWII homing pigeon credited with saving many lives by carrying messages from the front to headquarters. Evading radar, he flew through battle and succeeded in saving the lives of American troops that day. There were many other brave little birds employed by our country and others during war times. Read about them on the Internet! Homeward Trail Lofts offers (at no charge) memorial releases at graveside for Veteran’s funerals.

Doves (pigeons) have been used to deliver medicines to remote areas, and they have been studied for use in rescue operations at sea (they can sight a rescue buoy sooner than the human eye can). The white dove touches us emotionally and spiritually and is mentioned in the Bible more than any other bird. These gentle creatures are one of God’s many miracles.
